Have any clues or ideas? Here's the rub, WHY can the nfig files not be created? It seems to indicate it tries to create them but fails, I am logged in as an administrator on the machine and I did run the setup using elevated rights (right click run as administrator)

In desperation, I copied those files into the 64 bit folder C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v7\configĪnd ran the installation, successfully installing SQL 2012.
